Sewing the Seeds of Kindness

Who doesn’t need a little hope and kindness right now? We wanted to share with you how our amazing students use the creative skills they learn in our classes and camps to spread joy to others!

Meet Zehma, age 11

Sweet Zehma recently took a week-long Virtual Textiles & Fiber Arts class right from home. Using the Materials Kit we sent, she followed along with our expert Art Instructors to learn different techniques. Zehma took to the Embroidery segment like a duck to water! After sewing a design onto a cool tote bag and making a pin cushion, she was off and running. Becoming her own fashion designer, she turned to her closet to give her wardrobe a personal touch with her needle and thread. Zehma wanted to share her new prowess with someone very special. On Mother’s Day, she surprised her mom, Shoshana, with one of her shirts…freshly embroidered with a crescent moon, star and flower! We think it’s safe to say it’s now her very favorite top. She also sent the adorable pin cushion she made in a care package to her Grandma. Since then, Zehma received a sewing machine for her birthday and is putting the pedal to the metal, sewing up a storm!

“My daughter loved her Virtual Textiles & Fiber Arts class. I was impressed with the box of quality materials that were shipped to our home before the first class. My daughter was really inspired by the several different techniques she learned. She especially loved learning embroidery and creating her own embroidered tote as one of the class projects. But the most amazing part was that she then started right in on embroidering her own clothes. And she even embroidered one of my shirts to give me as a Mother’s Day gift. Thanks to all of you at Dragonfly Designs for creating such seamless and engaging online classes that spark my kids’ creativity! We’re looking forward to taking more!”
