Fly Girl – Jing Cheng

Meet Jing!

Jing is our Curriculum & Purchasing manager as well as being an Art Instructor at Dragonfly Designs. . Her favorite part of the job is making jewelry with children. She feels happy when she gets to help children complete projects independently after she gives them instructions on how to do so. Jing took a variety of art classes growing up, and fell in love with art at a young age! When she found how much children love and benefit from art, she was thrilled to teach it! Even though she deeply loves art, she also has a Master’s Degree in Chemical Engineering!

Specifically, she enjoys teaching our bracelets techniques and patterns the most. She says that lately, working with the kids and seeing their individuality in their work has given her great inspiration in her own life. She loves seeing all the differences, but also how they all turn out to be beautiful and perfect for each child. Her other recent sources of inspiration come from art focused movies such as Treasures of Ancient Rome, Ugly Beauty, and The Medici: Makers of Modern Art.

Her philosophy around creativity includes the belief that creativity itself is deeply within the mind and spirit of each and every child. She works hard to let children be themselves and maintain their natural curiosity and creativity. She’s attended many of our expert training sessions, and she found the workshops about Mindful Motivation and the “Power of the Positive” to be particularly useful. These specific sessions focused on how children learn and grow, and the difference we can make in their lives. She loved learning new ways that she can help kids in different stages of growth who have different needs. It’s already shown in how she conducts her classes! She’s a great teacher, endlessly patient, and truly compassionate with each and every student. Outside of work, Jing is an avid badminton player!
